MEET THE ADJUDICATORS
JIMMY LEE - Artistic Director and Chief Adjudicator
Born in Singapore and educated in drumming at New York Drummer’s Collective, Jimmy Lee has been playing drums since age 17. Jimmy is an endorsee of Yamaha Drums and Zildjian cymbals. His talent and professionalism have made him one of the most respected, prolific and experienced live and studio session drummers in the region.
As a much sought-after sessionist, he has performed and recorded with international stars, including A-Mei, Jeff Chang, Kenny Bee, Liu Jia Chang, Wynners, Sally Yeh, George Lam, Stephanie Sun, Eric Moo, Dick Lee, Eason Chan, Three Degrees, Lobo, Alex To, William So, Jacky Cheung and many other artistes.
His self-authored Drums Textbooks are widely adopted by music schools in the region as their syllabus material in their own Drums course.
NICHOLAS KEYWORTH
Nicholas Keyworth has travelled to over 50 countries and is constantly inspired by their individual history, architecture, culture, people, wildlife, and artistic diversity. Now based in the UK and in Thailand, he has been the Musical Director and Conductor of projects ranging from musical theatre and opera to orchestral and chamber music as well as developing festivals and competitions internationally.
As the former Chief Examiner for Music at Trinity College London, Nicholas was at the forefront of international arts assessment in classical, jazz and popular music. He appeared on a series exploring exam music repertoire for BBC Radio 3 as well as travelling internationally giving talks and presentations relating to music assessments. In 2012 he developed and launched the successful Trinity Rock & Pop exams at Trinity in collaboration with Faber Music and Peters Edition. [Full Biography]
ER CHOW KIAT
Er Chow Kiat (b. 1989) is a drummer and music educator with an entrepreneurial spirit that led him to establish Drum Tutor in March 2018, a contemporary drumming school with 4 outlets in Singapore.
Lionised among his contemporaries as one of the youngest luminaries in his field, the musical maestro has helped put Singapore on the map as an accomplished musician who has toured the world with international bigwigs like Taiwanese songstress Angela Zhang, and played with Instagram rockstar Mateus Asato at major festivals like Japan’s Fuji & Sun Festival, Taipei Jazz Festival and Java Jazz Festival.
